Last night’s 2011 CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund Awards in New York were a huge success if judged by the high-wattage celebrity turnout at a fashion event. Calvin Klein (event keynote speaker), Anna Wintour, Olivia Wilde, Tory Burch, Amanda Seyfried, Rebecca Romijn and husband  Jerry O’Connell, Diane Von Furstenberg (current CFDA President), Alexander Wang, Vera Wang, Zoe Kravitz, Margherita Missoni, Lala Vasquez, Carmelo Anthony, Rachel Roy, Zac Posen, Ivanka Trump, Rooney Mara, and many more prestigious fashion luminaries and celebrities were in attendance. French designer Joseph Altuzarra was the night’s winner, honored for his promise as an emerging talent with both start-up money and a mentorship from fashion industry leaders.

One of the night’s hottest makeup trends was silvered eye shadow, worn by a diverse group of skin tones haircolors, yet all looking fresh and gorgeous.

Tory Burch: Fashion designer Tory Burch, who looked stunning in a Christopher Kane Kirsi dress (not one of her own?!) in black velvet with bright jade-green earrings. She confined the shimmering silver to her eyelids, sweeping it up into the crease but avoiding the brow bone altogether, then adding a swipe of black eyeliner to the outer corners of her eyes to enhance the lash line along with lots of black mascara on top and bottom lashes. She also brought a bit of the silver shadow onto the inner corners of the eye and slightly below the lower lashes for bright-eyed look. You can get the same look with ColorOn’s Platinum & Pearls instant eye shadow from the Metallics Variety Kit, using the extra creamy silver mineral shadow on the cover sheet and a small eyeliner brush to bring the silver shadow into the inner corners of the eye and below the lover lash line.

Rachel Roy: Another designer, Rachel Roy, also wearing her own designs in a palette of nude, white fur and a gorgeous hammered black velvet maxi skirt, created a smoky silver eye, starting with a base of silvered lids that swept into the crease, the inner corners of the eye and under the lower lash line at the inner corners. Then Ms. Roy added a deeper smoked silver to the outer corners of the eye and under the lower lashes, and either eyelash extensions or a strip of false lashes on top, and plenty of black mascara on the lower lashes. She also rimmed her lower lids with black eyeliner as well for an exotic look. Starting with ColorOn’s Platinum & Pearls instant eye shadow and also again confining the shadow to the lid and crease, add our Smooth Patina Silver Shimmer loose mineral pigment to the outer corners and below the lower lashes to create that shimmering smoky look, and add either a strip of falsies, or multiple coats of black mascara. You’ll note that in both of these designers’ looks, they’ve opted for a muted pinkish-nude mouth and glowing skin, letting their eyes be the focal point.

Doutzen Kroes: From designers to models, we have L’Oreal’s Doetzen Kroes wearing all of the same colors; they just look different on her lighter skin tone and blue eyes than they do on Ms. Roy’s gorgeous caramel skin and deep brown eyes. Use the same colors as you would for Ms. Roy’s look – Platinum & Pearls instant eye shadow and Smooth Patina Silver Shimmer loose mineral pigment. And once again, opt for the same glowing skin and pinky/nude lip, only this time with a gloss finish.

Other ladies who sported the silver: Redheaded model-of-the-moment Coco Rocha, actor Amanda Seyfried, designer Donna Karan, actor Jennifer Carpenter, and model-turned actor Rebecca Romijn.
