ColorOn really IS water-resistant! Model wearing Barbados...

If you keep up with the ColorOn blog, you know we recently told you about our expansion into India, and you saw a little tease of the ColorOn makeup artistry of Manishi Jain, one of that country’s most famous makeup artists. That inspired us to ask other global makeup artists we know are using ColorOn to send us their work.

Meet Danielle Buljan, professional makeup artist AND photographer. A rarity in the world of fashion, Danielle came to the U.S. from Brazil in 2001, and says that, “My influence comes from my life experiences — and lot of Photoshop study!” On a recent swimwear shoot, she provided us with photographic proof of ColorOn’s water-resistant properties, as you can see from the photograph. The model is wearing Barbados, a smoky tonal look like the lush foliage of the Caribbean in gradient light and medium olive green with dark olive liner, from the Eye Envy Flaunt Variety Kit.

“Photography is about a vision that comes to life in a still frame,” Dani adds. “A photograph can speak a thousand words without saying anything.” In this next photograph, Dani used Bronze Goddess, a shimmery gold and glimmering deep brown that combine to create a rich bronzed look, from the Metallics Variety Kit.

As for her influences as a makeup artist, Dani gets her inspiration from strong and vibrant colors – like many of ColorOn’s instant eye shadows.

“Makeup is meant to be beautiful, and beautiful makeup is all about the colors you choose and where you place them – never about how much you put on.” Proving that point, the model in this photograph is wearing Swept Away from the Dreams Variety Kit, a wash of the palest turquoise shading to a golden sand, with a swoop of sienna liner for a warmly sensual look.

After arriving in the U.S., Dani worked as a specialist in makeup application skills and facial products for Lancome before moving on to Sephora, where she underwent intensive training in New York City and Miami and became a Color Expert. Now on her own, she combines her two passions flawlessly. The model in this last photograph is wearing Lava, a shimmering gradient black and gold metallic also from the Metallics Variety Kit.
